SCHEDULE: No plans to be unavailable for voice or on-camera work until mid August, 2008.
FAQ’s:
1. What does The Process look like? Call or e-mail us. We discuss your project and set a record date. You e-mail or fax the script. You direct Jim over the phone until we have at least two good takes of everything. We edit the files--convert them to wav, aif, or MP3--then post them to our FTP site. You download them (takes a few seconds to a few minutes) and drop them into your project. We can also burn and FedEx a CD or DVD. Or, we can interface seamlessly with studios around the world via ISDN (Telos Zephyr) so you can record real-time on your end.
2. What ’s the best way to send scripts? E-mail a Word document. Fax also works, but please, 12 point or larger type. Though Jim is a great cold read, a few minutes prior to the session is always helpful.
3. Do you guarantee your work? Absolutely. If Jim can’t deliver the read you want, or you’re not happy with the sonic quality, there’s no charge. But please, don’t use the files.
4. Do you charge a cancellation fee? Only if there’s less than 24 hours’ notice and/or we had to turn down other business.
5. How do you handle billing? We mail or e-mail you an Invoice and appreciate payment by check within 30 days.
6. Do you do buyouts? Most non-broadcast pieces include five years’ usage--permanent buyouts on request. Broadcast rates usually include a 13-week cycle; longer terms are negotiable. We seldom do permanent broadcast buyouts because many clients want exclusivity.
7. Do you offer exclusivity? Yes, per product category and market, for the usage period.
Or by special request.
8. Can Jim do different voices? Hundreds. From no-nonsense medical or technical training to off-the-wall characters. From real people to movie-trailer-dramatic. Loads of different styles, ages, emotions, and dialects. Impersonations range from Ed Grover (the Visa guy) to Alec Baldwin, Marlon Brando, Peter Thomas, Will Lyman, Kasey Kasem, Gary Owens, Wolfman Jack, and dozens of cartoon characters.
9. What age range does Jim play? Voice: 6 to 106. On-camera: 40 to 60.
10. What kinds of projects does Jim like? Everything from straight-ahead training to off-the-wall improv. Well-written scripts and a director who encourages exploration are especially appreciated.
11. Does Jim do medical or hi tech projects? Tons—huge web sites for Pfizer, hundreds of science lab lessons for Holt Publishing, hundreds of aeronautical narrations for Boeing and GE, and hundreds of hi-tech narrations for Microsoft, Intel, Applied Materials, Motorola et al. Jim’s also an attorney and can help re-phrase copy claims to keep you out of hot water.
